Hey there, Curious Friends!
It’s RJ here, and I’m SO excited to share my favorite books I’ve been reading this month. These are stories that made me laugh out loud, imagine cool adventures, and even taught me some important lessons about kindness and being brave.
Here are my Top 3 Story Picks for August — maybe you’ll love them too!
1. “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt
Why I Love It:
This book is super funny because it’s about crayons that are tired of coloring the same things! The Blue crayon is overworked, and the Peach crayon feels shy because it doesn’t have a wrapper. I laughed so much while reading it, and it made me think about giving my crayons a break too!
RJ’s Tip:
Try drawing something with your “unusual” colors — like a purple sun or a green elephant!
2. “Ada Twist, Scientist” by Andrea Beaty
Why I Love It:
Ada is a curious kid, just like me! She asks lots of “why” and “how” questions about the world and even makes funny experiments at home. This story taught me that it’s okay to be super curious and ask lots of questions.
RJ’s Tip:
Create your own “curiosity notebook” where you can write down weird science questions you think about.
3. “The Magical Yet” by Angela DiTerlizzi
Why I Love It:
This book is all about the word “YET.” When things feel too hard, like riding a bike or writing a long story, you just haven’t learned it YET. It’s super positive and made me feel like I can try anything if I don’t give up.
RJ’s Tip:
Whenever you feel stuck, just say: “I can’t do this… YET!” and try again tomorrow.
