Ever Wonder How I Make My Stories? Here’s a Peek Behind the Scenes!
Hi Awesome Storytellers!
A lot of you have been asking, “RJ, how do you come up with your stories?” Well, today, I’m going to show you how I create my stories from the first idea to reading them on YouTube!
Step 1: Idea Pop!
Ideas can come anytime — while playing, eating breakfast, or even when I’m about to sleep. That’s why I keep a small notebook with me to write them down.
One day, I thought: “What if my pet could talk to me when no one’s looking?” — That became a story!
Step 2: Drawing Time
Before writing words, I draw my characters and settings. This helps me imagine what’s going to happen. Sometimes, my drawings are silly, but they help me think of new ideas.
Step 3: Story Talk with Mom & Dad
I tell my parents the story out loud like it’s a movie scene. They write it down for me, and we read it together to see if it sounds funny or cool. This part is where we fix mistakes and add funny words!
Step 4: Practicing Voices for YouTube
Before recording my videos, I practice reading my story with funny voices. Sometimes I use sound effects or ask my friends to be “guest voices” in my stories. My dad helps with recording, and my mom picks out cool sound effects.
Step 5: Making Flipbooks & Printables
After recording, we turn my story into a digital flipbook that you can read on the website. Sometimes, we also make coloring pages so you can color the characters too!
